The Daniel Brothers took possession of the former studio of Sir Frank Brangyne in December 1989. With a limited budget, a fridge, an oven, a few plates and some cutlery we bought some vegetables and pulses to create some dishes for friends and family on opening night. The proceeds enabled us to buy produce for the next night and this was how we survived week to week, learning how to cook and serve along the way.
A one year lease turned into 22 years and little did we know we would become one of the great places to eat in London, win the Time Out Award in 1992 and go on to produce 2 cookbooks, as well as be nominated for many other awards, not to mention the back catalogue of amazing reviews. We have managed to achieve all this with a shared entrance, in a rather unusual building, slightly hidden away!
The landlord is developing the site so we have the opportunity to refresh our restaurant and its facilities. We hope you will join us in Islington during the summer months!
